R3born: Life, Growth, and Evolution Through Melodic House
Updated: Oct 10
Today marks the release of my second electronic music single, R3born. But before I get into the inspiration behind the track or what it means to me personally, I want to touch upon how we got here and what the ultimate goal is.
Although R3born is my second standalone single, it's actually the 17th song I've officially released under the S3NTIENCE project.
My previous single, Close To You, was a melodic, vocal-driven electronic dance track with significant trance influences. Before that, in July 2026, I released my debut 15-track electronic music album, Blind Dates With Deities.
The underlying goal throughout all these releases has remained relatively simple: growth and progression.
Whether we're talking about musicality, composition, pacing, sound design, mixing, mastering, or any of the countless other elements that go into producing electronic music, my objective is to keep learning, experimenting, and improving with every release.
And interestingly enough, that philosophy ties directly into what R3born represents.

The Journey Is Just as Important as the Destination
When I set out to make R3born, as is the case with most of my music production, the creative process was more about the journey than the destination.
One of the things I've found particularly fascinating about electronic music production is how frequently a song evolves into something entirely different from what I originally envisioned.
There have been plenty of occasions when I've sat down at my digital audio workstation thinking, "Okay, today we're going to make a melodic techno track," or perhaps, "Let's take a crack at something inspired by classic trance."
But somewhere along the way, with the introduction of each new musical layer, something interesting happens. The song begins developing an identity of its own.
A particular melody inspires an unexpected bassline. A vocal passage changes the emotional direction of the arrangement. A sound design experiment introduces an entirely new atmosphere. And before you know it, the finished composition bears surprisingly little resemblance to the original idea.
To me, that's one of the coolest aspects of electronic music production, and perhaps creating art in general.
There's an element of unpredictability involved. Sometimes the creative decisions you make along the way lead you somewhere you never anticipated going.
Rather than fighting that process, I've learned to embrace it. After all, sometimes the most interesting destinations are the ones you never intended to visit.
The Inspiration Behind R3born's Melodic House Hybrid Sound
One of the first things that captivated me during the early production stages of R3born was its vocal component.
Both the tone of the vocals and the underlying lyrical message resonated with me. That emotional connection became the foundation for everything that followed. I wanted to build an electronic dance music track around those vocals, with the hope that the finished song might resonate with other people as well.
Musically, R3born is primarily a melodic house track with progressive house influences, although there are a few interesting twists along the way.
One of its defining characteristics is a 32-bar melodic progression that gradually evolves, introducing subtle changes as the arrangement develops.
There's also some gritty bass movement that introduces contrast and tension against the more melodic and emotional elements.
That juxtaposition was important to me.
I didn't necessarily want every sound to communicate the same emotional character. Some elements are warm and uplifting, while others introduce a darker, more aggressive texture.
Pair that with the track's harmonic violin passages and mellotron chords, and R3born takes on more of a commercial, melodic house/dance-pop hybrid vibe with some 90's character.
Together, those contrasting characteristics create something that feels a little more open to interpretation. And that brings us to what I consider the most meaningful aspect of the song.

Finding Light in the Darkness
To me, R3born is a reflection of the human condition.
It's introspective, simultaneously melancholy and uplifting.
It's dark. It's light.
It acknowledges both the highs and lows of life without necessarily suggesting that one is more important than the other.
In many ways, I consider R3born a celebration of life in its entirety, including the difficult parts.
After all, there can't be peaks without valleys.
Some of the experiences we perceive as negative or undesirable in the moment turn out to be valuable opportunities to learn, grow, and evolve.
And while we don't always recognize those opportunities immediately, time and perspective can change how we interpret them. That's a significant part of what R3born represents to me.
It's about optimism, perspective, personal growth, and recognizing that our circumstances are constantly changing.
But one of the most fascinating things about music, and art in general, is that the artist's interpretation doesn't have to be the listener's interpretation. Our individual experiences, memories, personalities, and outlooks all influence how we perceive a particular piece of music.
Someone might listen to R3born and hear an energetic melodic house track that makes them want to dance. Someone else might hear the same song and find themselves reflecting on a difficult chapter of their life, a significant change, or a new beginning.
Both experiences are equally valid.
And personally, I think that's part of what makes music so powerful. The same composition can communicate entirely different things to different people, depending on what they bring to the listening experience.
Applying Lessons Learned From Previous Releases
Beyond its emotional message, producing R3born was also an important opportunity to apply what I've learned throughout the development of S3NTIENCE.
One of the things I've been doing since releasing Blind Dates With Deities and Close To You is submitting my music to independent electronic music playlist curators and collecting feedback.
Not every submission results in a playlist placement, but even the rejections can provide valuable information.
Over time, I began identifying recurring observations about different aspects of my production.
Rather than dismissing that feedback, I started compiling it into something resembling a production checklist.
There were specific elements I wanted to pay closer attention to, particularly during the mixing and mastering stages. My goal was to take my time, apply the lessons I'd accumulated, and elevate the overall production caliber of the next release.
And I feel that R3born represents meaningful progress in that regard.
That's not to suggest the track is perfect, or that I've somehow reached the finish line. Quite the opposite.
The more I learn about electronic music production, the more I realize just how much there is left to explore, but that's precisely what makes the journey exciting.

What's Next for S3NTIENCE?
R3born is only part of what's happening with S3NTIENCE right now.
I already have two additional tracks scheduled for release in October of 2026, each exploring a different corner of the electronic music landscape.
The first, I'm 3levated, arrives in mid-October. It's something of a happy accident: an uplifting, melodic, vocal-driven drum and bass track that emerged from an unexpected creative detour.
The second, Fighting a Feeling, arrives in late October and explores a darker, more ethereal melodic house and techno atmosphere, featuring compelling vocals and some particularly juicy, gritty synthesizers.
I'm excited about both releases, especially because they demonstrate how much stylistic ground there is to explore within electronic music.
And that's really the underlying theme of the S3NTIENCE project right now.
There's a tremendous amount happening, and things are evolving rapidly, sometimes almost weekly. Not just from a promotional or marketing standpoint, but creatively and technically as well.
Between producing, composing, arranging, mixing, mastering, managing releases, and handling the many other responsibilities involved in building an independent music project, there are plenty of hats to wear.
But the central objective remains unchanged: put our best foot forward with everything we create and make every reasonable effort to ensure each release is as strong as the last, if not stronger.
For now, I'll be focusing on introducing listeners to R3born, preparing the upcoming releases of I'm 3levated and Fighting a Feeling, and, most importantly, continuing to create the highest-caliber electronic music I possibly can.
There's a lot more in the works, and I'm excited to see where this journey takes us next.
If you'd like to experience R3born for yourself, it's available now on Spotify and all other major music streaming platforms.
Stay tuned, because I'll be back very soon with a whole lot more EDM goodies.
